2009 United Way Day of Caring

August 19th is the 2009 United Way Day of Caring in Western New York!  This is the place for agencies and companies to find the forms and information you need to make sure that 2009 is the best Day of Caring ever!

DAY OF CARING volunteers assist community providers and save thousands of dollars! While having the opportunity to see first-hand the impact of their United Way gifts as well as, the important work of the human service providers in the community.

Over the past 16 years, United Way Day of Caring has made a significant economic difference in our community.  Since its inception, the efforts of United Way Day of Caring volunteers have saved agencies in Erie and Niagara Counties over $5.5 million dollars with an estimated 330,000 hours of service donated from 81,500 volunteers.

Last year, in Erie County alone, 3,389 volunteers participated in 162 projects that benefited 119 area agencies and the people they serve.  In addition, 700 volunteers from 57 companies participated in 56 projects at 38 agencies served by the three United Ways located within Niagara County.

Projects included facility maintenance and landscaping, entertaining youth, providing meals and companionship to seniors, and assisting with other tasks that will bring a positive impact to the agencies, the neighborhood and the entire community.

This year's Day of Caring is generously sponsored by HSBC, National Grid, Praxair and Wegmans.
