United Way Matters for Seniors

Did You Know...
  • 16 percent of Erie County's population is 65 or older. By 2015, that figure is expected to rise to 20%.
  • Nearly half of all seniors live alone.
  • Almost 30% of those over 75 have some type of disability that limits their ability to leave their home.
You and United Way make a difference!

United Way is working to make sure that all senior citizens in Erie County have the support they need to live as independently as possible.

Your contribution to United Way is an investment in Erie County's seniors. No organization has its finger on the pulse of our critical needs like United Way. We collaborate with dozens of local partners to make the biggest possible impact where it's most needed. For seniors, that means supporting programs that help them stay independent - from a daily phone call from a caring volunteer, to nutritious meals, to help with transportation for grocery shopping, medical appointments and social activities.

United Way Matters for Seniors
  • 15,595 seniors have received services that enable them to remain independent through United Way supported programs.
  • Over 15,500 seniors received information on human services, linking them to services they needed in their local community.
