2020 I.M. Freeze Flash

A fundraising campaign for United Way of Buffalo & Erie County

Run into the Niagara River for a cause!

To Our I.M. Freeze Flash Supporters:

Thank you for your generous support of the 202 I.M. Freeze Flash! In a community where the conversation around the implications of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been accelerating in recent days, we are reminded of our collective responsibility to our families, colleagues, neighbors and all community members.  As an organization dedicated to the health and well-being of our community, we are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and taking steps to minimize the impact of an outbreak.

We encourage everyone to review the recommendations from the Erie County Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control for reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection for yourselves and others.

Our top priority is the safety of our staff, volunteers, and partners. Therefore we have decided to postpone indefinitely this year I.M. Freeze Flash scheduled for March 28, 2020  indefinitely. We thank you in advance for your understanding. Should you have any questions in regards to this event please contact Kristy Davis at [email protected] or 716-887-2631.

If you or someone you know needs help dial 2-1-1 to receive the most up to date information on what resources are available.

We will continue to post updates related to our response to COVID-19 on our website at www.uwbec.org/coronavirus

Sincerely,

United Way of Buffalo & Erie County and the I.M. Freeze Flash Committee

Join us Saturday, March 28th at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island to dash into the cold Niagara River in an event that brings people together to improve birth outcomes in our community.

  • Registration begins at 9am

  • Participants will enter the Niagara River beginning at 11am

Parenthood can be overwhelming for everyone, but it can be especially difficult for expectant parents struggling to make ends meet. Annually in Erie County, 1 in 10 babies are born premature, which can cost 12 times as much as compared to uncomplicated births. United Way works to build initiatives that help low-income pregnant moms and get babies off to a healthy start, educate parents about healthy eating and active living, and give caregivers valuable skills and opportunities to enhance their social lives. Help us support at-risk mothers and give their babies a healthy start!

To participate you must raise a minimum of $25. All participants are entered to win great prizes donated by local companies.

The first 100 participants to raise $100 will receive a pair of tickets to the Buffalo Bandits vs. Saskatchewan Rush on March 28th at 7pm! Participants will also receive one entry for every $100 they raise to win 2 JetBlue tickets to fly anywhere in the United States! Winner will be drawn at the after party.

If you plan on going into the Niagara River, you must sign the liability waiver found here.

Running into the Niagara River in March is not everyone's cup of hot chocolate. However, you can have a cup of hot chocolate while encouraging our bold and daring dashers. Or you can come for the pizza, donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, basket raffles, silent auction, 50/50 split, get your picture taken with the superheroes and villains of the Justice League of WNY, AND cash bar! RSVP here.
