our impact

Our world looks different than anyone imagined a few years ago. And the 40% of families who were barely getting by before are struggling more than ever.

That’s why United Way steps up, wherever needed. Responding to immediate needs. Helping people recover—and rebuild. Breaking a cycle of hardship to build strong, equitable communities where everyone can thrive. And we're asking you to be part of it.

We are united by the belief that people want to help each other. By an understanding that education, financial stability and health are the cornerstones of a good life. And by a desire to come together —through giving, volunteering or public policy advocacy—to make life better for our neighbors.

Change starts when we Live United. Are you ready? Give today.

Stories of Impact

your donations in action

Early in 2020, we embarked on a strategic planning process with broad community input that included obstacles facing our community at the time. While we never could have predicted how the future would play out, it was evident even then that the plan would require us to transform - that we must use our subject-matter expertise in community needs to engage the entire community and collaboratively develop solutions that lead to systemic change. The last few years have brought unprecedented challenges to our community. But it has also brought an incredible opportunity to reimagine and rebuild Buffalo & Erie County as a stronger, more equitable place where everyone can thrive.

With all of this in mind, United Way of Buffalo & Erie County clearly defined seven priority areas and specific impact goals to guide our 2022-2024 program investments. We are proud to invest $3.3 million in 94 local programs effective July 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023. Below you will find information about each of the 7 priority areas, the goals for each priority and how United Way of Buffalo & Erie County is working collaboratively with nonprofits in our area to affect systemic community change.

When you support United Way, you help address our community’s most pressing needs so that every person has the opportunity to enjoy the highest possible quality of life.

The collective power of people, businesses, and organizations coming together to create positive change is far greater than one person or organization could accomplish alone.

Become a changemaker in our community by giving to United Way of Buffalo & Erie County's annual campaign.
