Board Leadership Training
Step into non-profit leadership by signing up for United Way of Buffalo & Erie County’s 2026 Board Leadership Training. This three-part training series returns in May and will be held in person for the first time since 2019!
This hands-on program helps you build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to serve effectively on a nonprofit board through three engaging sessions.
Why Participate?
Serving on a board offers unique opportunities for professional and personal growth and the chance to make an impact in your community.
Topics covered during the training include:
- Roles, responsibilities, and structure of nonprofit boards
- Financial oversight and fiduciary duties
- Supporting an organization’s mission
- Steps to joining and contributing to a board
Board Leadership Training participants are invited to attend a spring Board Match Event at United Way to meet with nonprofit organizations and learn more about available board and committee positions. Graduates have the opportunity to find the best match for their skills and interests, and nonprofits receive individuals ready for hands-on board service.
